You have 3 paths. You can choose 2 of them. One you can upgrade to 5, the other one to 2. Only ONE tower that follows a specific path (5 on one) gets to keep the 5. If there are more that want to have the 5, you can't. Only one dart monkey can have a 5 on the path you choose and the rest can only go up to 4.
